Skyline Manor Apartments

VCDC is pleased to welcome Skyline Manor Apartments to our portfolio.

April 2020 - Skyline Manor Apartments is a renovated affordable housing community in Glasgow, Virginia, situated on the National Park Service’s register of Historic Districts. Skyline Manor holds a unique charm and history – originally constructed in 1939, the building was used as an elementary school for 43 years until it was eventually converted into affordable housing apartments in 1993. The development offers 32 renewed homes serving low-income seniors ages 62 and above. 

Skyline Manor Apartments resides in the heart of Glasgow in Rockbridge County, just north of Roanoke and west of Lynchburg. Residents at Skyline Manor live close by to charming offerings in downtown Glasgow, including fine dining, shopping, and entertainment.  For convenience, residents are also a short walk away from a grocery store, convenience store with a gas station, post office, library, churches, police station, and public park.  

Renovations at Skyline manor include improved replacements of all major systems, roofing, windows, floors, carpets, tiles, accessible walkways, and landscaping, along with designer cabinetry, spacious closets, and other modern amenities. Residents can also enjoy a modern, sleek community room. With renovations, the building has at least 50% more energy efficiency than it previously did and exceeds typical green building standards.  

VCDC contributed $2,703,701 in LIHTC equity to Skyline Manor’s total cost of $4,636,844 through Housing Equity Fund of Virginia 23. VCDC partnered with developer Landmark Asset Services, Inc. to assist with the rehabilitation of Skyline Manor. Landmark is a mission-driven developer of affordable and historic housing based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They have developed 83 LIHTC developments across the southeast with the goal of providing affordable and high quality housing to residents.
