VCDC is proud to welcome Crescent Halls to our portfolio.

March 2021 - Located in Charlottesville, VA, the Crescent Halls project involves the acquisition and rehabilitation of a 105-unit public housing development in the rapidly gentrifying city. This project is part of the first phase of efforts to transform the City of Charlottesville’s affordable housing options, initiated by the Public Housing Association of Residents (PHAR), to which the City of Charlottesville has committed $15 million.

The planned rehabilitation of Crescent Halls includes, among other things, comprehensive upgrades to building systems, a new roof, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, a new high-efficiency central heating and air conditioning system, and extensive site improvements to enhance accessibility for residents.

VCDC provided $7,699,330 to the total project cost of $25,694,330, and is partnering with project sponsors PHAR and Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority to preserve this critical affordable housing resource for the community of Charlottesville. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.
