Loan Manager, VCDF

Position Overview
The Loan Manager will work closely with the Loan Fund Director to advance the mission of VCDF, conduct outreach to prospective and existing borrowers, manage compliance and reporting functions, and maintain strong communication with project sponsors and borrowers. The Loan Manager may also coordinate asset management of VCDF’s growing portfolio as the program evolves.
The Loan Manager will strengthen lending processes, support cross-functional performance within the Loan Fund, and foster a thriving, equity-driven organizational culture. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, collaborative professional eager to translate strategy into sustainable, mission-aligned impact.

VCDC is a nonprofit community development organization based in Richmond, Virginia. We provide capital solutions and strategic partnerships to support affordable housing and community development across Virginia and beyond. Our work includes equity investments backed by Low-Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits, compliance and capacity-building support, and consulting services. Through our affiliates, the Virginia Community Development Fund (VCDF) and Virginia Community Development Advisory Services (VCDAS), we also offer lending and technical assistance for housing, commercial, and economic development projects.

VCDF is the lending affiliate of VCDC. For over 18 years, VCDF has provided flexible financing to real estate projects that improve opportunities in jobs, housing, and community services benefiting low-income people in Virginia and West Virginia. Key Responsibilities
Work with the Loan Fund Director to identify, originate, and process loans with current and prospective borrowers
Receive and evaluate loan requests, providing summaries for review and consideration by VCDF staff
Prepare loan proposals/credit memos for staff review and present to VCDF Board Loan Committee
Manage loan processing and track loans through closing
Coordinate with Finance Team and monitor loan servicing
Provide input and review compliance and impact reports for funders, investors, and oversight agencies
Maintain and improve systems for communication and data management
Collaborate on the development, launch, and execution of lending products and partnerships
Assist Fund Director in program planning, product design, and proposals for added capital
Other duties as assigned

Ideal candidates will bring many of the following qualifications:
Experience in business and real estate lending, financial analysis, and/or loan systems
Strong financial skills, including the ability to review financial statements and work with financing models used by VCDC
Knowledge of community development, racial equity, and economic inclusion
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
Attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely reporting and compliance
Graduate degree or training in business, economics, or finance (preferred)
Experience in the community development financial institution (CDFI) industry (a plus)
Understanding of lending, due diligence, underwriting processes, and borrower relations
Familiarity with community development lending and other loan programs
Knowledge of loan servicing and data management software
Work Environment & Additional Information
Location/Primary Base of Operations: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Remote/In-Person)
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Typical Work Schedule: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday, though hours may shift occasionally based on business needs.
Travel: Frequent statewide and regional travel is an integral part of this position and a valid driver’s license is required.

Compensation & Benefits
t VCDC, we believe compensation should reflect both the impact of the work and our commitment to organizational values. We use national and local salary surveys, structured pay bands, and internal benchmarking to ensure our pay practices are fair, competitive, and transparent.
Salary and Pay Band: The salary range is between $75,000 - $90,000 plus benefits. This represents the full compensation range for the role over time, not necessarily the starting salary.
Starting Salary: The expected starting salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. Candidates should expect an offer within the lower to mid-range based on relevant experience, with progression opportunities tied to performance and tenure.
Bonuses: Performance-based bonuses may be available depending on individual and organizational outcomes.
