Equity Fund Analyst

Position Overview 

The Equity Funds Analyst will join VCDC’s Equity Funds & Investor Relations team to support all aspects of VCDC’s equity fund program. This includes monitoring fund performance, preparing reports for investors and other stakeholders, and contributing to fund formation and investor outreach efforts. This role supports VCDC’s mission by strengthening fund operations, enhancing investor relationships, and ensuring accurate, transparent financial analysis.

We provide capital solutions and strategic partnerships to support affordable housing and community development across Virginia and beyond. Our work includes equity investments backed by Low-Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits, compliance and capacity-building support, and consulting services. Through our affiliates, the Virginia Community Development Fund (VCDF) and Virginia Community Development Advisory Services (VCDAS), we also offer lending and technical assistance for housing, commercial, and economic development projects.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Fund Management 

    • Develop, analyze, and maintain VCDC’s fund models. 

    • Prepare initial fund projections to support investor outreach and subscription activities. 

    • Coordinate with VCDC acquisition staff to evaluate project-level pricing and assess investment adjustments. 

    • Update fund projections at least quarterly based on actual asset performance, including schedule changes and benefit delivery. 

    • Adjust projections as needed to maintain IRR and other benefits consistent with fund targets. 

    • Support fund cash management and tracking, including investor draws, contributions to properties, and bridge loan/reserve activity. 

    • Prepare routine and special investor reports, including quarterly benefit schedules. 

    Fund Formation and Outreach 

    • Assist in the preparation of investor presentations and marketing materials. 

    • Support the development of responses to investor questions and due diligence requests. 

    • Help maintain investor contact information and the investor outreach calendar. 

    • Participate in investor outreach activities, including meetings, workshops, and conferences. 

    General VCDC Support & Other Duties as Assigned, including but not limited to:  

    • Participate in required convenings, summits, and staff meetings. 

    • Serve on cross-functional teams to support organizational priorities. 

    • Complete special projects as assigned. 

    • Perform additional duties as needed to support the goals and mission of the organization. 

Performance Expectations 

The Equity Funds Analyst is expected to deliver accurate financial analysis, timely reporting, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The role requires strong customer-service orientation, adaptability to evolving priorities, and a proactive approach to ensuring effective fund operations and investor satisfaction.

Ideal candidates will bring many of the following qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred. 

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial or real estate transactions, with direct responsibility for tracking and reporting transaction-level details. 

  • Preferred: Familiarity with Federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and other Federal, State, or local affordable housing programs. 

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required). 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing platforms, and general office technology (required). 

  • Experience troubleshooting basic technical issues and coordinating with IT support (preferred). 

Work Environment & Additional Information 

  • Location/Primary Base of Operations: Richmond, VA 

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Remote/In-Person) 

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt  

  • Typical Work Schedule is 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday, though hours may shift occasionally based on business needs. 

  • Travel: Occasional travel is required across Virginia and adjacent states. A valid driver’s license is essential.

Compensation & Benefits

At VCDC, we believe compensation should reflect both the impact of the work and our commitment to organizational values. We use national and local salary surveys, structured pay bands, and internal benchmarking to ensure our pay practices are fair, competitive, and transparent. 

  • Salary and Pay Band: $70,000-$90,000. This represents the full compensation range for the role over time, not necessarily the starting salary.  

  • Starting Salary: The expected starting salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. Candidates should expect an offer within the lower to mid-range based on relevant experience, with progression of opportunities tied to performance and tenure. 

  • Bonuses: Performance-based bonuses may be available depending on individual and organizational outcomes.
